2 Steps to Achieve True Life Happiness and Try it Yourself

Some time ago (in October 2012) I visited Prague (Europe) workshop which was called Carpe Diem.

It was social game which we played for about 3 hours in groups of 6 people.

I know presenter and organizer of this event personally. This organizer dedicated his own life to "Carpe Diem philosophy" that he introduced. I am inspired by people who live by philosophy of their own life. At the end of this workshop we had incredible results.

And what we did?

Step number 1 - Realization

At the beginning of our workshop, we had to imagine, what our dream DAY would look like if money was no object.

If you want to try it yourself, there are few things to be done:

Grab pen and paper and follow this SMART rule when writing down your imaginative day, what would make you happy if you lived it every single day.

S = Simple
M = Measurable
A = Achievable
R = Realistic
T = Timed

I have written down ONE single day of my life, which is day I want to live.
My written description included PLACE where it is located, TIME what happens when, PEOPLE who I meet, their NAMES and FEELING I will have during that day.

Note: Remember to include WORK which will make you happy and imagine that you get paid well for it. I have included writing in the morning and in afternoon. That was my work.

Remember to describe everything from the moment you wake up until you go to bed. again.

By actually doing this exercise I realized, what I really want!
But many times, questions appeared to my mind...

"Is this really what I want?
Can I really achieve something Like this ever?
Will this make me really happy?
What If I change my mind?"

It takes time to realize what you really want. I had also doubts if I can really achieve something like my dream day. It took me at least 2 hours to write and think.

Step number 2 - Commitment

When we finished rewriting our story, we asked ourselves:
"Do I believe that I can REALLY achieve this goal and live it every single day 365 times a year?"

If your answer is YES - then COMMIT.

How to Commit?

Open your calendar and schedule this day. Try to live it 24 hours.
It firstly sounded like madness to me, but I did it. No matter how expensive it was, when I tried it - I realized pros and cons of my dreams.

I also discovered that my personal TRUE Happiness does not come from actual things I did, including sailing ocean, eating healthy and fresh food all day long, riding quad bikes and traveling all the time. But It was the PEOPLE what really made me happy. I spend my dream day with my wife, and other truly amazing people. This exercise also helped me to realize, that True Life Happiness which makes me happy is more about people and all the small things we do during the day, rather than anything else.
