What will raise your chances? Think out of the box!

Few months ago, I've heard something about thinking out of the box. It immediatelly captured my interest. I have started to think how can I  use this way of thinking in my favor.

For those who haven't  heard about it yet, let me give you short definition first.

Think out of the box"Thinking outside of the box" and "thinking beyond the box" means to think differently, unconventionally, or from a new(uncommon) perspective. This phrase often refers to unusual or creative thinking.(Wikipedia, 2012)

If you are not sure what I mean check this video. This is one of many examples. The "nine dots" puzzle. The goal of the puzzle is to link all 9 dots using four straight lines or fewer, without lifting the pen and without tracing the same line more than once.
Since childhood some of us have gained a lot of role models: parents, teachers, coaches... They all tell us: "You should do this. Do it this way. I´ve already told you how to do it. Do not try to do it by yourself. Etc." Is that right? NO. Now we are only used to do something because they did it like this. They teached us their rules. Nobody told us: "Try to think about it, you have more choices.Which one you will choose. Do you want to do it this way or that way?"

So I shout to the world BREAK THE RULES.
Break the rulesThere is no only one good solution. The art is to find the other ones and use them.

Think...There will be no phone, no air conditioning, no Scotch whiskey if the Alexandr Graham Bell, Willis Haviland Carrier and Andrew Usher didn´t think outside of the box.

I like the idea of thinking out of the box, because it makes you unique, special, different. Or do you want to be a sheep in the herd? If you don´t want to be a sheep I have some tips for you.

How can you use this way of thinking in normal life?
At work:
Do you suffer for lack of ideas?
Does your boss require a different approach than usual?
Your job is boring routine?

Change it. Look at the task at work from another perspective. From perspective of your clients, boss, colleagues. But don´t copy them. Try to be yourself. Or do something crazy like If your favorite character from the movie is for example "Maverick" (Tom Cruise) from the Top Gun ask yourself: "What would Maverick do If he were in my position?" I know, it is crazy :) But it can help you to not to think in the same way like million times before. Or if you have another idea, try it. It is worth it! You have nothing to lose!

In relationships:
Are you arguing with somebody all the time?
Are people telling you that you think only about yourself?

Each of us has different life experience, ideas about life and requirements on people. And it causes a number of disagreements and quarrels. Try to see thinks in their perspective.
I am sure that you can apply thinking out of box to various areas of life.

Break the rules, you have absolutely nothing to lose. (But don't break the rules in relationship :)
