Self-improvement? Secret is in small steps!

Very good friend of mine told me: "If you want to be better in what you do, you have to do it by more smaller steps - instead of one huge step."

ImprovementOne of the human characteristics is desire to have everything immediately. Present time suffers from lack of patienceWe are sometimes like small kids telling us:  "I want it. And I want it NOW!"

And then we do one huge step. But what if this one step is the bad one? We can lose everything just because of being impatient. And then, we regret: "I didn´t want to do that mistake because I've just relied on the friends advice."

If we're doing more smaller steps we have the chance to find out that our direction is not as good or bad. Otherwise we have time to think and realise our steps. And when it's bad - we can stop. We can change our mind and avoid possible losses. Pretty cool, isn´t? In addition - your skills will grow up. You will feel more confident and have a good feeling from avoiding bad decission.

Self improvement is defined as:
Improvement of one's condition through one's own efforts.
                                                                   (Thefreedictionary, 2012)

See? Efforts - even they use plural. Your mind, body and soul can´t absorb everything in one time.

So what we have to do is:

1. Have a goal.
2. Determine activities which lead to achieve this goal.
3. Specify the time of the day, when you deal with these activities. Everything is up to you. It can be 5 minute or one hour. Make the time for yourself and your growth.
Achieve goals
4. Do some of these activities every single day. Read articles, watch the video about things you are interested in. Or practice them. You are your coach. You know what is the best to do and how to do it. Practice makes master.
5. Enjoy this time. If it's going to be annoying or boring for you or you won't feel enthusiasm by doing it, you should better stop. Think more about your goals or activities. Everything you do with heart, enthusiasm and passion goes easily hand in hand with success.
6. Don´t forget! You do this for yourself. When you cheat, you cheat yourself.

I´ve already determined my activities which will help me to achieve my goals. Here is for example one of them: I have a professional web site as my home page. And every day I am going to control what is new in this (my) special field.

What are you going to do now? To complain about your situation or to determine your own activities?
